Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in France's Puy-de-Domme on August 9 1976 the eldest among four kids. The parents of Audrey Tautou who was both dentists and teacher, were aware of and supported their daughter's enthusiasm for drama and theater at an early stage. Their support is more than enough for Audrey to thwart her initial desire to become an animal scientist. Early success and a rapid rise in fame marked her as a young actor. In 1998, after completing her education, she was selected to participate in Jeunes Premiers an French TV talent-scouting programme sponsored by Canal+. There she was awarded the prize for the Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. It was this that led her to pursue a professional career as an actor. Tautou was raised in an Catholic family and attended religious services, despite having went to school in the Institut Catholique de Paris. Neben her acting, Tautou took up modeling and was the spokesperson in the advertising campaign for L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. In the past, during the Arles Arts Festival she exhibited a collection of photographs under the title Superficial. The focus of her photography is celebrities, fame and the media who scrutinized her following her emergence on the scene with Amelie. Additionally, there are several photographs that show herself. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom and international fame with her first big role, starring as the lead in The Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Pouulain. Amelie was a worldwide box office film that received acclaim during awards ceremonies across the globe. The film is still the top-grossing French language film to be released in the US. After this huge success, Tautou went on to star in many films which included British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long Sunday de fiancailles. She also starred alongside Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
